Dr. Curtis J. Mitchell has been in the gospel ministry for over 30 years. In October 1986, he accepted the call to be the pastor or Antioch Progressive Baptist Church. Dr. Mitchell holds academic degrees from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana--a Master of Ministry (Summa Cum laude) and a Doctor of Philosophy.
He is married to Mrs. Kay T. Mitchell. They have four children and four grandchildren.
Pastor Mitchell developed Antioch Progressive Baptist Church into a Bible-based, Christ-centered and Spirit-led church, where the motto is "We Dare To Be Different".
He has been involved in many facets of community work, such as the Sacramento County Department of Health, the Task Force on AIDS, the Board of Directors of the Goodwill Industries, and the Chief of Police Task Force on Youth Gangs.
Dr. Mitchell also works in many capacities within the American Baptist Churches of the West IABCW USA. He has been appointed in ABCW as a church consultant for growing healthy churches.
His love and concern for people are evident in his preaching, teaching and counseling ministries.
